Omega 3 fatty acids are polyunsaturated fatty acids that have been known to increase HDL (good cholesterol), decrease triglycerides, prevent irregular heart beats, and prevent blood clot formation. Although there are many over-the-counter and prescription medications containing omega-3 fatty acids, they may also be obtained through a variety of foods in your diet. The following foods contain a high amounts of omega-3 fatty acids:
